Tulane Bowling completes weekend at Music City Classic

SMYRNA, Tenn. – Tulane Bowling went 2-1 on the final day of competition, and finished 21st at the Music City Classic, at the Smyrna Bowling Center. The Green Wave posted a 5-8 record, 11,606 pin total, and 179.0 pin average in the tournament.

The Music City Classic is the largest tournament of the season, composed of 35 teams and 237 bowlers, including 23 of the top-25 ranked teams in the country. Junior Michelle Ng led the Wave with a 46th-place individual finish and a 189.00 five-match pin average.

Sunday, Tulane won baker matches over Maryville (4-2) and Texas Southern (4-0) in best-of-seven bracket play, avenging an opening-round 4-1 defeat to Texas Southern. Tulane nabbed a win over Alabama A&M (912-577) in Baker match play on Friday, and claimed traditional match wins Saturday over Howard (958-871) and Elmhurst College (1,025-873).

The Green Wave totaled 4,300 pins in Baker play on Friday and 4,595 pins in traditional play on Saturday, and knocked down 2,711 pins in three bracket matches Sunday. The Wave collected a match-high pin total of 1,025 in the win over Elmhurst Saturday.

The Green Wave returns to action next weekend at the Southland Bowling League Championships, March 25-26, in Jonesboro, Ark.
