Three Wolf Pack women’s tennis players earn SSAC honors

(Mobile, Ala.) Three members of the Loyola University New Orleans women’s tennis team earned awards from the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) today prior to the start of the 2017 SSAC Tennis Championships at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama.

Standout freshman Nadja Ochsner was named to the SSAC All-Freshman Team, while Koral Martinez was selected to the SSAC All-Academic Team and Lauren Rosales was chosen to the SSAC Musco Lighting Champions of Character Team.

A native of Switzerland, Oscher held down the No. 2 singles position for the Wolf Pack in all 18 matches this season. The freshman collected a 7-11 at second position, marking the most wins on the team during the 2016-17 campaign. She also teamed up with Margaret Adams for a majority of the doubles matches this season, accumulating a 10-7 overall record primarily at second flight.

Majoring in Biology/Pre-Med, Martinez has played at No. 1 singles for the Wolf Pack the entire season and has accumulated a 6-12 overall record. Pairing with Miranda Cano at No. 1 doubles for most of the season, Martinez has collected a 7-13 overall record in doubles during the 2016-17 campaign.

Rosales has played in two matches this season and finished the year with a 2-0 mark at No. 5 singles.

The Wolf Pack women’s team is in action today at the 2017 SSAC Tennis Championships in Mobile, Ala. Loyola entered today’s action as the No. 7 seed in the tournament and are facing off against the second-seeded No. 10 Mobile.
