(New Orleans, La.) Head coach Kellie Kennedy and the Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team recently announced the signing of three players for its 2017-18 class. The Wolf Pack will welcome guards Presley Wascom and Savannah Ralph along with forward Chelsea Gray to the Loyola family next season.

“We are very excited about the addition of Chelsea, Presley and Savannah to our program,” said Kennedy. “We have definitely filled some voids that we will have with the loss of such a successful, talented group of seniors.”

“Presley and Savannah can really shoot the ball and I know they can see some early playing time at Loyola. Chelsea is such an athlete and will help us tremendously in the post to score and rebound the ball. We hope to sign a few more, but are very pleased to start this recruiting class with such a stellar group of basketball players and students, who possess tremendous character!“

A 5’6” guard from Denham Springs, Wascom brings a major scoring punch from the lead guard position. Entering her senior year, she is averaging 17.5 points and 3.44 assists per game, while shooting 75% from the free throw line. Wascom was named All-District and All-Parish in each of her three seasons at Live Oak High School and was most recently named All-Metro and All-State Honorable Mention along with earning the Parish Offensive MVP award during her junior season. Wascom enters her final season at Live Oak holding school records in career points (1,457), career three-pointers (238), most triples in a season (91), most threes in a game (12) and the most points in a single game (45).

A native of Austin, Texas, Savannah Ralph is a dynamic guard out of Austin Bowie High School. Entering her senior season, Ralph helped guide the Bulldogs to district, bi-district and area championships along and berths in the Regional quarterfinals and semifinals. For her efforts, she was named the team’s defensive player of the year in 2015 before earning offensive player of the year accolades in 2016.

Rounding out the group is 5’10” power forward Chelsea Gray. A force on the glass, Gray has averaged 10 points and 10 rebounds in her career at MacArthur Senior High School in Houston, Texas. A four-year starter and one-year captain, she was named First Team All-District once in her career and earned the outstanding rebounder award three times.

The talented trio will have big shoes to fill next season following the graduation of seniors Meghan Temple, Jackie Anderson, Kylah Jones, Caroline Gonzalez and Shayne Charles – who will leave Loyola as one of the most successful senior classes in history.

Tasked with making it all work will be coach Kennedy who recently etched her name in the Loyola record books with a historic victory. Following Monday’s 85-53 defeat of Millsaps College at First NBC Court, Kennedy earned her 174th career victory to surpass longtime Loyola men’s coach – and Wolf Pack Hall of Famer – Jack Orsley (1940-57) as the winningest basketball coach in Loyola history.

Currently, the No. 24 Wolf Pack sits at 5-2 overall entering conference play against Brewton-Parker College on December 1.
