Baseball Report: Northshore edges Slidell, 2-1

In an excellent pitcher’s dual Thursday, Northshore closed out District 6-5A play with a 2-1 home win over Slidell.

In a game that had a total of five hits, Ethan Campo overcame wildness to get the win. Campo went six innings, using 109 pitches He allowed an unearned run on just two hits. Campo walked eight but pitched out of trouble throughout, striking out five. Brett Sanchez pitched a perfect seventh inning to get the save.

Northshore took a 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the third inning but the Tigers tied it with a run in the top of the fourth. The Panthers won it with a run in the bottom of the fifth.

Hunter McGoldrick singled home a run for Northshore while Brayden Jobert drove in the other run for the Panthers.

Ethan Gillespie and Ethan Samrow each had a hit for the Tigers. Gillespie took the loss, allowing just two runs on three hits, walking just one while striking out six, using just 93 pitches.

Northshore (20-9, 11-3) will close out its regular season today at home against Riverside at 6 p.m. Northshore is 21st in the most recent LHSAA power rankings.
