(Montgomery, Ala.) After helping the Wolf Pack to two key conference victories last week, Loyola University New Orleans men’s basketball junior Nick Parker was selected as this week’s Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

The Port Allen native helped the Wolf Pack to a perfect 2-0 mark last week with wins coming over Mobile on Thursday and Bethel on Saturday at home.

Against the Rams, Parker poured in 23 points on 7-of-12 shooting to go along with five rebounds and three assists in Loyola’s 72-68 victory at First NBC Court.

He followed that performance up by dropping 27 points, seven rebounds, and six helpers to power the Wolf Pack past the Wildcats 94-71 on Saturday afternoon.

The lead guard averaged Parker 25 points, six rebounds, and 4.5 assists while shooting 64% from the field in last week’s triumphs.

His 14.8 points per game lead Loyola and rank ninth in the SSAC. He currently is second on the team with 65 assists and 38 steals while his .758 free throw percentage is the seventh highest in the league.

Parker has scored at least 20 points seven times this season and has tallied double-digit points in 18 games thus far.
