Warhawks close SBC Championship with Silver, pair of Bronze

Sun Belt Conference Championships
Location: Arlington, Texas

Arlington, Texas – The ULM men’s and women’s track & field teams closed the Sun Belt Conference Championships on Sunday with a runner-up finish by Jevaughn Shaw and a pair third place finishes from Alexis Gordon and Adriunna Brown in the final day of the meet.

NOTABLES
-The Warhawks got off to a quick start on Sunday with Shaw’s runner-up finish in the discus after a 53.37 meter throw in the finals just missing winning the event by .89 meters. Also in the discus Kyle Weiss was seventh with a 49.22 meter throw and Micah Dye was ninth with a 47.59 meter toss.
-Gordon picked up a third place finish in the women’s discus with her 49.56 meter throw to pick up the bronze in Arlington.
-Brown had a bronze medal performance in the 400 meter hurdles, running a 59.80 time in the final. She also picked up a ninth place finish in the women’s triple jump with a 12.14 meter jump, just missing earning points for the Warhawks by .05 meters.
-Lebrun Nelson had a fourth place finish in the men’s triple jump on Sunday with his 15.17 meter distance.
-The women’s 4×100 meter relay team had a seventh place showing as the team ran a 47.61 time. The men’s 4×100 meter relay team had a tenth place showing as the team ran a 42.07 time.
-Brandon McDonald had a strong showing from the B heat as he picked up a fifth place finish in the 1500 meter race with a time of 3:54.54. He beat his season-best by nearly two minutes that he priously set in the LSU Alumni Gold earlier this season.
-Kipkirui Victor had a 10th place finish in the men’s 5000 meter race on Sunday night. Victor had a 15:27.05 to finish just outside of earning points for the Warhawks.
-The Warhawks had a ninth place finish in the 4×400 women’s relay with a time of 3:54.89. The men’s 4×400 relay team also had a ninth place showing in the final as they ran a 3:21.88 time, just .05 away from earning points in the top eight.
