Warhawks close Central Arkansas Invitation with win Sunday

Monroe, La. – The ULM softball team finished the Central Arkansas Invitational with a 3-1 mark after defeating Western Illinois 1-0 on Sunday morning with a walkoff victory in the eighth inning.

-Deadlocked at zero going into extra innings, ULM Cheyanne Lyon tripled with one out before Melanie Coyne singled back up the middle moments later to give the Warhawks the walk-off win.

-Jessie Watts finished with two hits, while Lyon, Coyne and Samantha Agamite combined for ULM’s five hits in the game.
-Coyne earned the win after putting in eight innings of work after allowing only two hits with 10 strikeouts. Coyne stranded one hit on the bases in the top of the first and then worked around a hit and a walk in the fourth inning.

The Warhawks now prepare for the Houston Hilton Plaza tournament on Friday and Saturday. ULM will face Wisconsin, Princeton, Sam Houston and host University of Houston.
