Volleyball Report: Hannan handles St. Scholastica in battle of powers

Hannan VolleyballA pair of teams accustomed to playing deep into the playoffs squared off Thursday.

Archbishop Hannan, which reached the Division IV championship match in 2015, appears poised to make another run at a title in 2016.

The Hawks (12-4) controlled play from start to finish in a 25-20, 25-23, 25-14 victory at St. Scholastica.

Tatum Ballard led Hannan with 17 assists, 10 digs, seven kills and four aces while Hailey Cabeceiras was outstanding as well with 13 kills, 10 digs and four aces. Allison Weimer led the Doves (7-3) with 12 kills, eight digs, five blocks and an ace while Molly Brown dished out 19 assists for SSA.

The Hawks return to action next Thursday at Dominican while the Doves play at St. Joseph’s Academy, also next Thursday.
