It’s not exactly uncharted territory, but the University of New Orleans basketball team continues on its unique journey in Katy, Texas this weekend.

Picked no higher than ninth in the preseason, the Privateers are now undisputed Southland Conference champions with an NCAA tournament bid in sight. UNO received two byes in the league tourney, meaning the top seed starts in the semifinals Friday at 5 p.m. at the Merrill Center. With two wins, the Privateers will qualify for the Big Dance for the first time since 1996.
