With the 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series getting underway in less than two weeks and the inaugural Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana less than a month away, driver Charlie Kimball stopped by the First NBC Bank update studio on Wednesday.

Kimball is one of the best stories in IndyCar racing. The 30-year-old is a type 1 diabetic, the first such competitor on any auto racing circuit.

Kimball and his fellow IndyCar drivers tested out new aero kits on Saturday at NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale and the last two days at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham. The testing period is much like baseball’s spring training, but with the new equipment in play for 2015, it takes on a whole new meaning.

The 2015 season begins March 29 in St. Petersburg. The Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana is April 10-12 at NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale. Tickets are on sale through the event’s website, GPofNOLA.com, or daily at the park.
