Two new Generals signed for men’s basketball

Alexandria, LA – The top-ranked LSUA men’s basketball has added two players to its upcoming recruiting class, with the signing of Russell Edwards from Mamou High School and the transfer of Jordan Adebutu from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.

Edwards, a 6-8, 220 lbs. forward/center who is playing out his senior season with the Green Demons, was named MVP of the Mamou squad that won the district championship last season. He was also tagged as the Parish MVP and District co-MVP for his play in 2015-16 as well as the defensive MVP. His sophomore season he was named best rebounder also with first team All-District and All-Parish. He was also named the best freshman in his first season on the varsity squad in 2012-13.

Adebutu, a 6-2, 190 lbs. guard from Baton Rouge, transferred from ULL for the Spring semester at LSUA. He comes from Scotlandville High School in Baton Rouge where he made the LHSAA State Championship Game all four seasons, twice taking home the title. He was named All-District three times and also made the All-State list. Academically, he was honored on the Dean’s List.

Adebutu is already on campus while Edwards will join for the fall 2017 semester. Both are expected to join the Generals roster for the 2017-18 season.
