NEW ORLEANS – The 2017 Tulane Baseball season opens Friday when the Green Wave plays host to Army at 6:30 p.m. at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

Friday’s opener is the first of three contests for Tulane this weekend, and the Wave faces Air Force at 4 p.m. Saturday and Army at noon Sunday, as part of Military Appreciation Weekend. Sunday’s game time has been moved up one hour to noon, to accommodate travel plans for Army.

Live video stream and live stats will be available for all three games on www.TulaneGreenWave.com. The Friday and Sunday games will be broadcast on 88.3 FM WRBH and the TuneIn Radio app, while Saturday’s contest will be broadcast online only, through the video stream.

Tulane will honor the service men and women of the United States Military. Members of the military can receive free admission to the games, and friends and family of military members can purchase discounted tickets for $5. In addition, members of the military will receive concessions discounts with proper government ID, and those in full uniform can get a free hot dog and small fountain drink through the third inning. Giveaways include Angry Wave-themed military dog tags, and Angry Wave Mardi Gras beads. A flyover is scheduled prior to Saturday’s contest, weather permitting.

The Green Wave is starting its first season under head coach Travis Jewett, and is an experienced bunch with eight seniors and six redshirt juniors. The 18 returning players include five position starters and three starting pitchers, while 15 newcomers joined the Wave for 2017. Freshman All-American Ross Massey and All-American Athletic Conference performers Jeremy Montalbano, Hunter Hope and Jake Willsey, return from the 2016 squad that won the American Athletic Conference Championship and made the program’s 21st NCAA Regional appearance.

Tickets for Tulane baseball can be purchased by calling 504-861-WAVE, online at www.TulanGreenWave.com, or in person at the Tulane Athletics Ticket Office in the James W. Wilson Center.
