Tennis: Warhawks edge SMU for 12th straight win

Dallas, Texas – The ULM tennis team closed out the 2017 regular season slate on Friday with a 4-3 win over SMU. The win marks the 12th straight victory for the Warhawks as they head into the SBC tournament next weekend.

-In doubles action, SMU took the point after winning their two match 6-3, 6-1 to secure the point for the Warhawks. The team of Luana Stanciu and Tiffany Mylonas did lead 5-4 in their doubles match but it was stopped due to the doubles point already being decided.
-In singles action, the Warhawks were able to bounce back and take four of the singles matches to secure the win.
-The Warhawks were led by Stefana Andrei out of the number one position, who won 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), followed up by Petra Horakova, winning her match 6-1, 6-3 in the number four singles position. Out on court five, Karolina Snita dominated her match 6-3, 6-3 and Madalina Grigoriu won her singles match 6-2, 6-1. Andrei’s match clinched the win for the Warhawks on Friday.
-Horakova moved to 13-0 in dual play with her win today over the Mustangs as the Warhawks picked up their 12th straight win overall on Friday. The Warhawks are now 9-7 all-time against the Mustangs.

-The Warhawks now begin preparation for the SBC tournament, which is slated to begin Thursday, April 20 in New Orleans.
