Slidell city swim meet

The annual Slidell City Championships were held at Cross Gates Athletic Club in Slidell on Oct 4.

The Pope John Paul boys and Northshore High girls came out victorious, claiming the city team titles.

The Northshore girls started the meet by winning the 200 Medley relay. Nortshore did not stop there, moving on to win 10 of the 11 girls events.

On the boys side, it was more diverse. PJP won the boys 200 Medley relay along with three other events. Northshore boys won four events, and the Slidell boys won three events.

Pope John Paul head coach Rick Kelly was very pleased with his kids effort. “We have been on a role for the past month, we swam very well last week down at Cypress Lakes Country Club and my kids did not miss a beat. We had 19 personal best swims today,” Kelly noted.

The city meet was an important step in preparation for this week’s Northlake Regionals on Oct 20.

“We set goals at the beginning of the season and winning the city meet was one of them, now we will face the very best teams on North of the lake at Regionals.”

The regionals will have 18 schools in attendance at Franco’s Athletic Club in Mandeville.

Final Team scores are below:

1. Northshore – 222
