The Saints’ key NFC South matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Dec. 11 will now kick off at 3:25 p.m. CST, the NFL announced Monday night.
The game was originally scheduled for a noon kickoff.
Saints spokesman Greg Bensel confirmed the move on Twitter, and the NFL has updated its online schedule to reflect the change.
The move was necessary for TV distribution purposes. All three Florida teams are scheduled to play at home that day, and all were originally scheduled for noon kickoffs on FOX. The other games involving Florida teams – Arizona at Miami and Minnesota at Jacksonville – remain in their scheduled slots.
The Saints-Bucs game is one of three games in Fox’s late doubleheader window. The Seattle at Green Bay game still figures to get the largest distribution, while Atlanta is at Los Angeles.
