Despite falling short in a 55-48 loss to the Georgia Force on Saturday night, the New Orleans VooDoo are in the Arena Football League playoffs for the first time since 2004.

The VooDoo reached the postseason when the Spokane Shock downed Tampa Bay 63-53 in Spokane late Saturday night, eliminating the Storm from playoff contention.

As a result, the 8-10 VooDoo earned the fourth and final seed in the American Conference playoffs. New Orleans must travel to face top-seed Philadelphia in the opening round of the eight-team playoffs. The 14-3 Soul conclude their regular season Sunday at home against Utah. Philadelphia has won seven straight games. The Soul opened the season with a hard-earned 63-62 win at New Orleans over the VooDoo back on March 18.

Jacksonville is the second-seed and the South Division champion. The Sharks will host Georgia in the opening round of the playoffs.

National Conference playoff teams include San Antonio, Arizona, Utah and San Jose.

The VooDoo, which have thrived on turnover margin all season long, turned the ball over five times while Georgia did not commit a turnover Saturday night as New Orleans mistakes handed the game to the Force.

Still, the VooDoo advance with a chance to make it back to New Orleans for Arena Bowl XXV on August 10 at New Orleans Arena.
