On Friday, the Tulane-Georgia Tech series was off. On Saturday morning, it's back on.
Georgia Tech athletic director Mike Bobinski confirmed on his Twitter account early Saturday that the four-game series between the Green Wave and Yellow Jackets is back on, with Tech traveling to New Orleans on Sept. 6 this season to begin the contract.
"GT is excited our FB series with Tulane will come off as planned. Look forward to traveling to NOLA in Sept.," Bobinski's post read. Tech confirmed the tweet on their athletics website soon after.
The game would be at Tulane's new Yulman Stadium, if it is completed. If not, an alternate venue - most likely the Mercedes-Benz Superdome - would have to be in place.
An ESPN.com report said the game "would be moved to a different venue."
Tech officials had announced Friday afternoon the series between the one-time annual rivals had been canceled, but Tulane released a statement to selected media later in the day saying the announcement was premature and this year's game was set to go on as planned.
"University officials have been in continuous conversations about the game and (Friday)'s earlier communication about canceling it and the remainder of the four game series was issued prematurely," the statement reads in part. "Both universities are looking forward to a competitive and exciting series."
