Porras earns her second selection; Dryburgh wraps up successful freshman campaign with honor
New Orleans – A pair of Tulane golfers have been recognized for their performance this past season as junior Maribel Lopez Porras and freshman Gemma Dryburgh were among five golfers selected to the 2012 All-Louisiana Women’s Golf Team by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Porras, who hails from Bogota, Colombia, is a repeat selection to the squad after receiving All-LSWA honors a year ago. This season, she was Tulane’s top golfer with a 75.36 scoring average and received
All-Conference USA First Team honors, claimed the 2012 C-USA Championship Individual Medalist for her first career victory and was a member of the 2012 All C-USA Tournament team
Porras, who played 28 rounds in 10 tournaments, shot par or lower seven times this season, including a season-low 3-under 69 twice and recorded three top-10 finishes and two top-5 efforts. Porras counted toward the team score in 24 of 28 rounds this season. She is a two-time All C-USA first team performer and was the 2011 C-USA Golfer of the Year.
A native of Beaconsfield, Bucks, UK, Dryburgh is a first-time performer on the LSWA team. A third-team All C-USA selection, she ranked second on the team with a 75.77 scoring average and posted two top-10 finishes and one top-20 finish on the year, including her best effort of second place coming at the UCF Challenge.
Dryburgh, who played 29 rounds in 10 tournaments, recorded five rounds of par or better, including her lowest score of a 2-under 70 during the final round of the UCF Challenge and the opening round of the Battle of Rancho Bernardo Inn.
