
New Orleans native Garrett Chachere landed the special teams coordinator position on the staff at Southern Mississippi.
New USM head coach Ellis Johnson lost Joe Judge to the New England Patriots and called on Chachere to fill the vacancy.
Chachere, a 1987 Brother Martin alum, has been in the college profession since starting out as a student assistant in 1991 at Tulane. After graduating from Tulane, Chachere has bounced around college staffs in state at Nicholls State, UL-Monroe, and Tulane.
Over the last three seasons, Chachere has spent time at Memphis and most recently at PAC-12 school Arizona,
