Veteran prep football coach Bob Howell, head man at Plaquemine High on the westbank of Baton Rouge, will step down from his position.
Howell, who will join the staff of Darryl Daye at Division II Missouri Southern as the offensive coordinator, led Plaquemine to the playoffs this season with a 6-5 record.
The longtime football coach has experience as an assistant on the staffs at USL (now UL-Lafayette) and McNeese State. Howell was the head coach at 4A Zachary prior to his stint at Plaquemine and led Baker to the 3A state championship game in 2001.
Plaquemine is a member of District 6-4A which includes 4A power Lutcher.
