The search for a head football coach at Ole Miss is winding down and it appears that Arkansas State head coach Hugh Freeze will land the job.

Houston Nutt was fired during his fourth year in Oxford. Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart and USM head coach Larry Fedora were thought to be the favored targets.

Freeze took Arkansas State to a share of Sun Belt championship in his first season at the helm in 2011 and was an assistant at Ole Miss previously. Freeze gained acclaim with being the high school coach of "Blind Side" subject and current NFL tackle Michael Oher.
