It has been well documented how much talent Louisiana has channeled to the NFL. Much of the talent groomed within the boundaries of the Pelican state at the prep level flourishes in college programs from coast to coast. Most of the top teams in the nation this season possess local born players.
Here is a brief look at some of the football programs that reside outside of Louisiana that have benefited from the outstanding high school coaching and the superior competition that is on display in the fall. These are some of the players that you'll most certainly see in many of the elite college football venues around the country in 2012.
Alabama
-WR Kenny Bell, a starter as a junior out of Rayville High School; four starts in 2011
-D.J. Fluker, junior RT originally from McDonogh 35 prior to relocating to Foley, Alabama following Katrina; a three-year starter.
-Eddie Lacy (Dutchtown), the primary ball carrier for 2012 after serving as backup to Trent Richardson in '11. Lacy had 674 yards rushing in 2011.
-Bradley Sylve, redshirt freshman out South Plaquemine; moved from WR to CB and will be backup in 2012.
- Cody Mandell (Lafayette) junior starting punter.
-Landon Collins, crown jewel of the 2012 recruiting class out of Dutchtown; will be backup at safety this season.
Mississippi State
- Dillon Day, starting center as a sophomore out of West Monroe; nine starts in 2011.
Ole Miss
-Randall Mackey, senior out of Bastrop, will line up as a backup WR after a handful of starts at QB
Florida International
-Glenn Coleman, WR from West Jefferson, a junior backup in 2012.
TCU
-DT Chuck Hunter, starter out of West Monroe
- LB Kenny Cain, starter out of John Curtis; second team Mountain West in 2011.
West Virginia
-RB Dustin Garrison, sophomore West Bank native before moving to Pearland, Texas following Katrina; had 742 yards rushing and 201 yards receiving in 2011.
Nebraska
-P.J. Smith, starting FS for the Cornhuskers as a senior; prepped at John Curtis.
Illinois
-sophomore backup LG Alex Hill (Slidell High School) 2010 signee. Was center.
-Houston Bates, OLB sophomore starter out of St. Paul's High School. Moved from DE; staff is excited about potential following spring.
Penn State
-MLB Michael Mauti, senior starter from Mandeville High; team's leading tackler after fighting injuries last two seasons.
Texas
-Toshiro Davis, 2012 signee LB from Woodlawn High School (Shreveport); 4-star recruit, one of top 10 LB in 2012 class. Penciled in as backup in '12.
Southern Miss
-Jordan Greene, backup RG from Brother Martin; 2011 signee.
North Carolina State
-Cam Fordham, 2010 LSU signee who transferred to Wolfpack; hailed as a big addition as starter at RG following outstanding spring
Texas A&M
-Gavin Stansbury (Franklin, La.) sophomore backup DE; played some as true freshman.
-Johnathan Stewart (Byrd High School) senior starter at MLB; 98 tackles in 2011.
-CB Floyd Raven (East St. John) backup sophomore 2011 signee.
-Patrick Lewis (East St. John) starting center; three-year starter as OG/Center
Arkansas

-Luke Charpentier (John Curtis) backup center as sophomore

-Kyle Prater, transfer from LSU; 2008 signee will be starter as senior at OLB.
Tulsa
-Alex Singletin (East St. John) 6'1-260 backup senior FB.
-Dexter McCoil (Lutcher) senior starter at FS. 84 tackles and six interceptions in 2011.
Kansas State
-Cornelius Lucas (Edna Karr) 6'8-331 backup RT; played 24 games last two seasons.
-Daniel Sams (Salmen) backup QB as redshirt freshman.
Cincinnati
-Munchie LeGaux (Edna Karr) starting junior QB; had 749 yards, 5 TD's passing and 4.5 yards per carry as runner.
Auburn
-DeAngelo Benton (Bastrop) senior backup WR.
-Trovon Reed (Thibodaux) sophomore starter at WR.
-WR Travante Stallworth (Leesville) senior starter.
-Ashton Richardson (St. Michael) senior backup at OLB.
-Greg Robinson (Thibodaux) redshirt freshman starter at LT; everybody is ecstatic over the job he did during spring drills.
Northwestern
-QB Zach Oliver (Catholic B.R.) backup as redshirt freshman.
Minnesota
-RB James Gillum(Pearl River) RB . 2012 JUCO signee that has emerged as starter. A lot of expectations.
Arizona
-Jonathan McKnight (John Curtis) starter as sophomore CB
-Jarrell Bennett (Edna Karr) 2012 WR; should get reps in '12.
Tennessee
-Darrington Sentimore (Destrehan) DE junior starter; originally signed with Alabama before moving on to JUCO.
-Herman Lathers (Scotlandville) senior starter at MLB.
-Prentiss Wagner (Clinton, La.) senior starter at CB; moving over from safety.
-Dallas Thomas (Scotlandville) senior starter at LT; three-year starter.
Missouri
- L' Damian Washington (Green Oaks, Shreveport); backup senior WR.
Kentucky
-Bookie Cobbins (McDonogh 35) redshirt freshman WR as backup; arrived in Lexington as a QB.
