The LSU Tigers bagged another commitment for the 2013 recruiting season this past weekend.

JUCO tight end Logan Stokes from Northeast Mississippi Community College. More on that in a moment, but let me test your memory for a second.

Tulane received their third football pledge of the 2013 season when Jesuit QB Tanner Lee (6'4-195) committed to Wave coach Curtis Johnson last week.

With the anticipated arrival of Lee on signing day 2013, he would become the sixth former Blue Jay signal caller to sign on at Tulane. Who are the other five? Answer later.

Stokes becomes the 12th commitment for the Tigers for the upcoming signing class. The Muscle Shoals, Alabama native will have two years of eligibility remaining. LSU loses two TE's to graduation following the 2012 season, Chase Clement and Tyler Edwards.

Stokes (6'4-245) is the second JUCO pledge to the Tigers for 2013 along with WR Quantavious Leslie and plans to enroll at LSU in January for spring drills. He spent Saturday afternoon in Tigertown along with about two dozen other potential future Tigers.

Les Miles and staff have been scourering the junior college ranks and still have a few players on their radar:

-TE Beau Sandland (6'6-250) from Woodland Hills, California already with 14 offers. Besides the Tigers, Nebraska, Baylor, Florida, Arizona, Georgia, Oklahoma and Texas Tech are his other suitors.

-WR Jermaine Sams (6'0-185, 4.4), a Hinds JUCO product, hails from Covington, La. No official offer has come from LSU yet, but they are monitoring his progress.

-WR Jonathan Rumph (6'5-200) from Holmes JUCO snared 37 balls for 606 yards and a pair of touchdowns last season. Arkansas, LSU, Georgia, Miss. State and Ole Miss are interested.

-OT Trenton Brown (6'7-345) from Georgia Military has talked to Arizona, Georgia, South Fla, Florida, Kansas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech. LSU is watching closely but made no offer yet.

-CB Tramone Mickens (5'11-185, 4.35) from Navarro JUCO has LSU, Florida, Texas, Texas Tech , Texas A&M and TCU hoping to add him for '13.

-CB Jaylon Myers (6'1-190, 4.4), another Georgia Military prospect, only has a UGA offer at this time. LSU and Kentucky are interested but neither have offered yet.

-MLB Larry Butler (6'1-245) made Eastern Arizona his third stop in last three seasons. Tennessee, Purdue, Miss. State and Kentucky are looking at him while LSU would like to see a little more.

-OLB Trey Vault (6'2-235) of Copiah Lincoln has eyes in the region on him. LSU joins ULL and Texas A&M with offers on the table.

A player that has flashed some significant skills but still hasn't received the attention that he deserves is Archbishop Rummel QB Damian Williams. The four year starter for head coach Jay Roth is considering offers from Kansas State, Nebraska, Tulane, Central Florida, Southern Miss and Memphis. All offers consider him a quarterback.

Williams (6'1-220) possesses a strong arm and good pocket presence, according to Roth. His experience and ability to make accurate pre-snap reads is his strongsuit. Williams has been to the Arizona State and Houston camps.

One dilemma for players such as the uncommitted is that so many more players decide early in the process where they intend to sign. Usually a recruiter is hesitant to accept commitments from too many players at one particular position. In order for a recruit to protect himself, some commit early to give themselves time to judge the lay of the land. This move gives a player ample time to see if a coach thatrecruited him will be retained by said school. Also, a better fit may somehow become available. Thus, even though a player commits, schools continue to recruit potential replacements for a signing class.

It is really no surprise why there is so much early committing followed by de-committing. The process can favor the high school player. Once he has committed, he has secured himself a spot. Even with an injury during his senior season, many schools will honor his commitment.

Back to the Tulane teasers. Jesuit's Tanner Lee, if he signs with the Wave, becomes the 6th ex-Blue Jay signalcaller to sign with the Green Wave. Who are the others? The Jesuit QB pipeline to Tulane includes:

Richie Petitbon (pictured above; 1957-58) - Did strictly play safety in the NFL.

Steve Foley (1972-74) - After a stellar career at QB, Steve moved to defensive back in the NFL.

Jack LaBorde (1968-70) -- Played running back for the Wave but lined up as the signal wing back (essentially the quarterback spot in the formation) while at Jesuit.

Wayne Francingues (1967-68) -- Besides football, Francingues excelled on the diamond, playing in the White Sox organization following his time at Tulane.

Anthony Scelfo (2006-07) -- After a standout senior year under center for the Jays, Scelfo worked up the Tulane depth chart to become a starter while excelling in baseball as well.
