METAIRIE - New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey sat out his second consecutive practice Thursday because of a sore right knee, but Who Dat Nation can rest easy.

The heavily tattooed eight-year veteran from Ada, Okla., is expected to play Sunday when the Black and Gold hosts the Minnesota Vikings for the NFC Championship and a berth in Super Bowl XLIV.

Deuce McAllister to remain part of New Orleans Saints playoff run despite retirement

NEW ORLEANS - Popular running back Deuce McAllister quietly slipped into retirement Tuesday after eight memorable NFL seasons, perhaps paving the way for second-year wide receiver Adrian Arrington to resume his active status with the New Orleans Saints.

It was announced Tuesday that McAllister has been placed on the league’s reserve/retired list, ending an inspirational cameo appearance that begin Friday when team officials re-signed him to the 53-man roster on the eve of their divisional round playoff game against the Arizona Cardinals at the Superdome.

Long time between NFC title games for Saints safety Sharper

NEW ORLEANS - On Jan. 25, 1998, Darren Sharper fulfilled a childhood dream, playing defensive back for the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XXXII.

He was 22, a wide-eyed rookie from William & Mary, performing as a nickel back on a worldwide stage in the National Football League. Losing to the Denver Broncos hurt at the time but he knew there would always be next year, and the year after that, and the year after that.
