The New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons released their final official injury reports Friday ahead of Sunday's game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Four Saints will sit out including starting right tackle Zach Strief, who suffered a groin injury in the second half of a 28-13 New Orleans win over the Philadelphia Eagles this past Monday night.
Charles Brown will make his first start of the season in place of Strief, Saints interim coach Joe Vitt announced.
Strief was in Philadelphia earlier this week being seen by Dr. William Meyers, who has performed sports hernia surgery on other Saints players.
“I don’t know if that’s a sports hernia,” Vitt said. “I don’t know if that’s a groin injury. He’s due back today at five o’clock. I’ll get filled in on exactly where he is when he gets back. But he won’t play in this game.”
Vitt also said that Turk McBride would see increased playing time with Gallette's absence.
Darren Sproles will sit out a second straight game as he continues to recover from hand surgery. The dynamic running back and return man is expected to miss up to six weeks.
The unbeaten Falcons had declared two players out for the NFC South showdown on Thursday including linebacker Sean Weatherspoon. Wide receiver Kevin Cone and safety Charles Mitchell will also be unavailable Sunday.
A key pair of defensive tackles for Atlanta - Jonathan Babineaux and Peria Jerry - are listed as questionable.
