The New Orleans Saints have signed cornerback Jabari Greer to a three-year extension through 2015.
Greer's agent, Mark Bloom, confirmed the extension to multiple media outlets Friday. "It shows the Saints commitment to Jabari and rewards him for his performance and growth over the past few years," Bloom said to the NFL Network.
After playing consistently well as the Saints' top cornerback over the last three years, Greer (5-11, 180) decided to further his stay in New Orleans after joining the team on a four-year contract as a free agent from the Buffalo Bills.
NFLN's Jason LaCanfora reports the new deal could be worth more than $23 million but frees up salary cap space for the Saints this year.
Greer, a University of Tennessee alum, has five interceptions and 43 passes defensed over his three seasons with New Orleans. He managed two interceptions in the Saints' playoff win over the Detroit Lions last January.
In his eight year NFL career, the 30-year old has nine interceptions and a reputation as a sure tackler at the corner spot.
