Tennis: Jesuit Wins Regional Boys Title; MCA, Dominican Tie For Girls Crown

GIRLS SCHOOL RIVALS KNOTTED UP:

Jesuit continues its dominance in tennis.

The four-time defending Division I champions appear poised to make a run at a fifth title.

The Blue Jays captured the Division I, Region III tennis title at the UNO Tennis Center Thursday.

Notching 22 points, Jesuit placed well ahead of second-place Brother Martin's 12 points.

Top-seed Hobie Hotard led the charge for Jesuit, beating teammate and second-seed John Lindsay for a third straight regional singles title by scores of 6-1, 6-2.

The second-seeded team of Ben Barrigan and Andrew Crespo won the doubles title for Jesuit, surprising teammates and top-seeds Trevor Lew and James Sampgnaro 7-6, 1-6, 6-3.

Mount Carmel and Dominican tied for the girls title with 16 points each.

Second-seed Gabrille Roe led the Cubs, taking the singles title 6-4, 6-4 over top-seeded Haley Tucker of Dominican.

The fourth-seeded doubles team of Madison Artigues and Kelsey Blosser of Dominican bested the third-seeded team of Ali Moore and Sophie Skipper of Mount Carmel 7-6 (7-5), 7-6, (7-5) in a very tight match for the doubles crown.

All advance to the state tournament in Monroe on April 30.
