STATE TOURNAMENT FINAL WEEKEND TICKETS PUNCHED

BRACKETS (ALL CLASSES)

Fourth-seeded Belle Chasse advanced to the state tournament at Sulphur next weekend with a 4-0 shutout win over 13th-seeded Cabrini Friday at Belle Chasse.

Jackie Johnson pitched a complete-game, striking out 11 to pick up the win. Carrie Thomassie took the loss for the Crescents.

Amanda Livaudais drove in one the first run for the Lady Cardinals and Kabrina Miller blasted a three-run home run in the fourth inning to put the game away for Belle Chasse, now 23-9 on the season.

Cabrini ended its season 13-11.

Belle Chasse advances to Frasch Park in Sulphur next Friday to face 12th-seed West Ouachita, a 6-3 winner over fifth-seeded St. Thomas More.

Also advancing to Sulphur is 18th-seeded Academy of Our Lady. The Penguins shocked second-seeded Alexandria 5-3 on the West Bank Friday.

The loss snapped an 18-game win streak for ASH, which saw its season end at 22-4.

AOL moves on to Sulphur on Friday to take on the winner of the Lutcher vs. Northwood-Shreveport game.

There was a huge upset in 5A as top-seeded West Monroe was beaten by 17th-seeded Denham Springs 2-0.

Madison Vige scattered five hits in a shutout win to move to 18-8 on the season while Haley Hayden took the loss for the Lady Rebels.

Kristie Bridges and Sidney McCollough each had two hits and drove in a run for the Lady Jackets, who improved to 21-10 with the win. West Monroe saw its season end at 23-6.

Denham Springs advances to Sulphur to face eighth-seed Sam Houston, a 4-0 winner over ninth-seed Pineville.

Also in 5A, second-seed St. Amant ended 18th-seeded Northshore's season with a 6-2 victory in Slidell.

Kristen Gekler had an RBI double for Northshore while Sydney Bourg had an RBI single.

The Lady Gators improved to 26-3 on the season while the Lady Panthers finished the season 18-8.

St. Amant advances to take on 10th-seed Live Oak, a 2-1 winner over seventh-seeded Ouachita Parish in 11 innings.
