TIGHT BATTLE ENDS IN DRAMA:

In an epic match, Haynes and St. Martin's could not put a ball in the net through regulation and a pair of overtimes Thursday.

As a result, the two combatants advanced to the penalty kick phase.

Haynes took advantage, putting four balls in the net while getting a pair of stops to take a 4-2 victory in the P.K. phase to defeat the Saints in a huge 10-III match.

The victory avenged a 1-0 loss to St. Martin's on January 19.

Both goalkeepers were outstanding, including Chase Morgan for Haynes and Jonathan Waters for St. Martin's.

With the win, Haynes moved into a tie with St. Martin's at 4-1 in district play behind top-ranked Country Day (5-0). Haynes is now 10-9 overall and will host St. Charles Catholic on January 30. St. Martin's fell to 8-8-5 overall and the Saints will host Holy Cross on Monday.
