AOL DOWNS HAYNES IN OT:

Kacie Fountain scored 15 points and Reshea Garrison had 13 as Academy of Our Lady defeated Haynes Academy, 39-36, in overtime Tuesday at the AOL gym.

Fountain converted two free throws with 15 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 35. The Penguins outscored the Yellow Jackets 4-1 in overtime to secure the victory.

AOL's percentage was not that great at the free throw line, but the Penguins managed to get to the line 39 times and convert 12 shots.

Chloe d"Aquin led the Jackets (0-1) with 12 points and five rebounds. Maddison Wells, who fouled out with 6:40 remaining in the game, finished with seven points, six rebounds and three blocks.

CHAPELLE GETS BY ST. JAMES:

Emani White missed last year's state semifinal game for Chapelle with a broken tibia which turned into a lopsided loss to St. Thomas More. White is back with a vengeance this season.

In a battle of unbeatens, the Chipmunks moved to 5-0 on the season with a hard-fought 40-37 victory over St. James Tuesday.

White led the way with 22 points while Gaby Duvernay added six points for first-year coach Kiely Schork.

The Chipmunks won the Hancock Tournament in Mississippi to start the season and won at Covington 50-36 previously.

The Lady Wildcats fell to 3-1 with the defeat.

Chapelle and St. James will both play in the St. Michael Tournament in Baton Rouge Wednesday through Sunday.
