Following the semifinals and consolation matches, Catholic High holds a four-point lead over Jesuit. The Bears of Tommy Prochaska have 286.5 points while the Blue Jays of Carlos Bertot are at 282.5 points. Rummel is a distant third with 2-04.5 points with St. Paul's fourth at 171 and Comeaux fifth at 160.5 points.

The Blue Jays have a slight edge with six wrestlers placed in the finals while Catholic has five. Rummel has four of its grapplers ticketed for title matches.

Among Jesuit's finalists are Jay Ferro (103), David Mahoney (125), Timmy Harris (135), Patrick Fitzsimmons (140), Trevor Johnson (145) and Gerard Braud (152). Catholic's finalists include Chase Fresina (130), Patrick Bourgoyne (160), Michael Love (171), John Luckett (189) and Drew Samaha (215). Amazingly, there are no head-to-head battles between Jesuit and Catholic wrestlers in tonight's final.

One interesting factor is that Jesuit's finalists are in lower weight classes while Catholic's are primarily in the upper weight classes. As a result, Jesuit may take the early lead but Catholic has a chance to finish strong and take the title. Of the finalists, Jesuit has four top-seeds in Ferro, Mahoney, Harris and Braud while Catholic has three top seeds in Fresina, Love and Luckett.

The big surprise for Jesuit is fourth-seeded Fitzsimmons at 140 pounds, who defeated top-seeded and defending state champion Rhett Ernst of Rummel in the semifinals. The big surprise for Catholic is Samaha at 215 pounds, who upset Rummel top-seed Tyler Burke by pin in the semifinals.

In Division Two, St. Michael's appears well on the way to a team title. The Warriors have 260.5 points with defending state champion Holy Cross second with 214 points. Teurlings Catholic is third with 187, followed by Bossier with 139 points and Northside with 121.

St. Michael's has nine finalists, including Charles Morgan (103), Ben Willeford (112), Tres' Gravois (126), Landon Carr (130), Brock Portier (140), Seth Barker (152), Miles Greenblatt (160), Chase Dunlap (171) and Stephen Scardina (285). Eric Desourmeaux's Tigers of Holy Cross have five finalists, including Anthony Gettys (103), Evan Nicosia (119), Cody Pilotte (135), Nick Michael (152) and Stephen Klemenakis (215).

In Division Three, Brusly has the team title wrapped up with 243 points. Evangel Christian is a distant second with 143 points with North Vermilion and Rayne tied for third at 136 points and Calvary Baptist fifth with 134.5 points.

Brusly has seven finalists, including Austin Schmerer (112), Kyle Busby (125), Tyler Rockforte (130), Andrew O' Brien (152), Christopher Couty (171), Dylan Hood (215) and Jacob Haydel (285).
