Posted by: Ken Trahan--Executive Producer in Prep Sports

CAJUNS CRUISE; THIRD MEETING OF 2A POWERS FRIDAY

Country Day clinched at least a share of the 10-1A title with an easy 66-29 victory over Ridgewood Thursday night at Ridgewood.

Kent McGuire led the way for the Cajuns with 17 points while Scott Plaisance had 16 points. Morgan LaCorgne pulled down 21 rebounds.

Michael Muller led the Eagles with 15 points.

Country Day dominated from start to finish, jumping out to a 16-2 lead and never looking back.

With the win, the Cajuns improved to 16-12 overall and 8-0 in 10-1A while Ridgewood fell to 14-10 overall and 3-6 in league play.

Houma Christian is 7-2 in district play but Country Day has already beaten the Warriors twice.

Country Day will play at St. Martin's Saturday while Ridgewood travels to Ecole Classique.

In the rubber match of a three-game trilogy, two-time defending state champion and third-ranked Riverside entertains top-ranked John Curtis at 7 p.m. in Reserve.

Riverside beat Curtis 69-51 in the Allstate Sugar Bowl National Prep Basketball Classic on January 21 before Curtis, at full strength, whipped the Rebels 85-66 in River Ridge in district play.

Riverside features Baylor commitment Ricardo Gathers while John Curtis has LSU commitment Malik Morgan.

Curtis is 23-2 on the season while Riverside is 25-6. It will be a packed house at Riverside.
