The LSU Tigers continued towards wrapping up what looks to be another superb 2013 recruiting class with another major commitment on Monday.
Barbe High tight end DeSean Smith became the 18th commitment for the Tigers and the second tight end to join the 2012 group.
"Coach Miles was very excited, and he said I made his day and all that," Smith told Geaux247 after announcing his decision. "He couldn't stop laughing and just kept saying this was very big for me to give him the news. Coach Miles said there really wasn't much he could say other than that I made his day."
Smith (6-4, 220), considered to be one of the top five tight ends in the country, picked the home state school over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Cal, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M. In what is becoming a familiar theme at the top of the college football landscape, an LSU-Alabama battle developed for Smith's pledge before the Lake Charles product went with the Tigers.
