HAMMOND – With a couple of preseason All-America honors already in hand, Southeastern Louisiana University football standout Simmie Yarborough picked up a few more in recent national releases.
Yarborough, a senior from Brookhaven, Miss., was named to four Preseason FCS All-America teams after earlier being named to the Consensus Draft Service Preseason All-America team and the College Football Performance Award Watch List.
Yarborough was one of four Southland Conference players named to the Beyond Sports Network Preseason All-America team and was selected as a FCS Senior Bowl Preseason All-American, earning second-team honors in each.
The record-setting receiver added a pair of third-team honors as he was named to the College Sporting News and Phil Steele FCS Preseason All-America Teams.
Yarborough, who currently holds school records for career receptions (168) and touchdowns (27), enters his final season with 2,002 career receiving yards and is 343 shy of passing former Lion All-American Felton Huggins as the school's all-time leader.
Southeastern opens its season on Sept. 3 against Tulane in a 2:30 p.m. contest in the Louisiana Superdome. Tickets are available by calling the Southeastern Athletic Ticket Office at (985) 549-5466.
