SAN MARCOS â€“ Louisiana Tech will compete in its final tournament of the spring prior to competing in the WAC Championships when the Bulldogs travel to participate in the 2011 Jim West Intercollegiate hosted by Texas State Sunday through Tuesday.
Victoria Country Club will host the 54-hole event as the 15-team field consists six Top 100 ranked teams, including 65th ranked Southeastern Louisiana, 69th ranked Texas-Arlington, 76th ranked South Alabama, 88th ranked UL-Lafayette, 92nd ranked Houston and 98th ranked LA Tech.
Other teams competing include Texas State, UTSA, Stephen F. Austin, College of Charleston, McNeese State, Sam Houston State, Cal State Fullerton, Houston Baptist and the University of Houston at Victoria.
Head coach Jeff Parks five-man team for the tournament will include Clinton Shepard, Sam Forgan, Cody Santone, Jonathan Bale and Jack Lempke.
All five golfers have recorded at least one Top 12 finish this year as Shepard (73.38) and Forgan (73.52) boast the best scoring averages in the group.
The Bulldogs are coming off a seventh-place finish last week at the BancorpSouth Intercollegiate hosted by Ole Miss at Reunion Golf and Country Club.
Parks and Co. will compete in the 2011 WAC Championships in Henderson, Nevada on May 2-4.
