Sounds rout Cakes, 10-2

Nashville – Matt Olson led the Sounds with four hits in five at bats driving in a pair of runs and scored a run for Nashville in a 10-2 win over the New Orleans Baby Cakes in front of 10,672 fans at First Tennessee Park.

The Sounds (9-11) scored in four of the first five innings and scored a season high ten runs. Nashville had four players with multi hit performances. Former New Orleans outfielder Mark Canha picked up two hits and three RBI.

Nashville starter Chris Smith earned the win pitching six innings allowing no runs on three hits. New Orleans starter Vance Worley allowed six runs on nine hits in the loss.

The Cakes (8-15) dropped a season high fourth in a row scored both of its runs in the eighth inning. Tyler Moore drilled a two run double to centerfield to score the lone runs of the day for the visiting Cakes. Matt Juengel led the team with three hits in three at bats.

GAME NOTES: Steve Lombardozzi added a pair of hits and extended his hit streak to four games… Nashville starting pitchers have worked 17 innings and allowed no runs on seven hits in the series. The Cakes have dropped a season high four consecutive games. Nashville has outscored New Orleans 23-5 in the series, and the Cakes have scored all of its runs in in the eighth inning. New Orleans allowed a 26th home run for the season; second highest in the Pacific Coast League.
