Softball: Warhawks open Central Arkansas Invitational with win

MONROE, La. – The ULM softball team notched another win on Friday afternoon with a 9-6 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the Warhawks’ opening game at the Central Arkansas Invitational.

With a one run lead after the six innings, the Warhawks added final two runs in the top of the seventh with a two-run double to left field by Bailey Thibodeaux to bring in Hunter Hogan and Samantha Agamaite.

-Arkansas-Pine Bluff opened the scoring in the first inning with two runs, but the Warhawks answered with six runs of their own in the top of the second. ULM added another run in the fourth before Arkansas-Pine Bluff worked its way back into the game with two runs in both the fifth and sixth inning before the Warhawks secured the win with two unanswered runs in the seventh.
-ULM finished the game with 11 total hits and eight RBI. Sami Billeaudeau and Samantha Agamaite both went 2-for-3 and Sydney McKay went 2-for-4 and combined for five of ULM’s eight RBI.
-Sydney Wader earned her first win of the season with a five inning start before Paige Murray finished off the final two innings. The pair combined to strikeout eight Arkansas-Pine Bluff batters.

-The Warhawks continues play in the Central Arkansas Invitational on Saturday against Houston Baptist and host Central Arkansas.
