It was a good day on the pitch at Lupin Field for the Newman girls soccer team Monday.

The Greenies blasted Lusher 8-0 to improve to 2-0 on the season. Newman blasted Lutcher 7-0 last week.

A.K. Aluise put Newman on top on a header off of a corner kick early before Sophie Andry scored on a corner kick to make it 2-0 just 11 minutes into the match. Newman led 4-0 at halftime and coasted to the win. Barrett Williams, Frances Sperling, Adair Rufty, Lillie Rufty and Grace Payne also scored for Newman. Aluise scored a pair of goals, Sperling had a goal and an assist.

The Greenies (2-0) return to action Thursday in the Dominican Tournament against host Dominican at 7 p.m. at Pan American Stadium while the Lions (1-1-1) return to action on Dec. 8 at home against Franklinton.
