Colonels Roll Past Grambling, 10-0

GRAMBLING, La. – The Nicholls State University soccer team secured its first road win in a convincing fashion as the Colonels defeated Grambling, 10-0, on Sunday afternoon.

Kristy Helmers and Haylee Atwell led the scoring barrage with two goals each. Also finding the net for the Colonels (3-1) were Emily Werenskiold, Jess Coates, Jessica Shelby, Francesca Curteis, Kirstie Champagne and Mie Elvestad.

Jade Gallaher and Roosa Hurmerinta each played a half at goalkeeper to log the Colonels’ second clean sheet of the early season.

Official stats and play-by-play were not provided for the match.

Nicholls returns home for its next two contests, starting with a Sunday (Sept. 11) matchup against in-state rival Louisiana Tech at 1 p.m. Admission for all home soccer matches is free.
