MONROE, La. – Six members of the ULM track and field team qualified on Thursday for the NCAA East Regionals on May 25-27 on the campus of the University of Kentucky.
The ULM men will be represented by sophomore Levaughn Battick in the 110 meter hurdles, senior Jemal Parharm in the long jump, junior Lebrun Nelson in the triple jump and senior Jevaughn Shaw in the discus.
The ULM women’s team will be represented by senior Adriunna Brown, who qualified for the triple jump, while senior Alexis Gordon punched her ticket to Lexington by qualifying in the discus.
To qualify for NCAA East Regionals, student-athletes had to post a season-best that ranked in the top-48 among all schools deemed in the east region.
To advance to the NCAA Finals in Eugene, Oregon on June 7-10, a student-athlete must finish in the top 12 out of the 48 at Regionals.
ULM looks to get a Warhawk to Oregon for the second straight season after Parharm made it to the finals in the long jump last spring.
In the 110 meter hurdles, Battick hit his season-best mark in the Bobby Lane Invitational with a 14.16 time in the 110 hurdles to qualify for the NCAA regionals.
Parharm qualified in the long jump with his season-best 7.47 meter jump in the Southern Miss Open back in April.
Nelson qualified for the triple jump with his season-best 15.48 meter jump in the LSU Alumni Gold meet. Shaw qualified with his season best 55.42 meter throw in the same meet as Nelson did in Baton Rouge earlier this season in the discus. This marks the second straight season that Shaw has made it to the NCAA East Regional.
Brown qualified in the triple jump in the Southern Miss Open with a 12.78 meter jump. This marks the second straight season that Brown has made it to the NCAA East Regional.
Gordon qualified in the discus in the Southern Miss Open with a 53.57 meter throw in the discus. This marks the second straight season that Gordon has made it to the NCAA East Regional.
