HAMMOND, La. – Collegiate Baseball named Southeastern Louisiana third baseman Taylor Schwaner one of its Louisville Slugger National Players of the Week, the national publication announced Monday.

A junior from New Orleans, Louisiana, Schwaner hit .500 (8-for-16) and smashed four home runs this past week, becoming the first Lion in recent memory to homer in three consecutive games.

Beginning with a game-winning, two-run home run Wednesday against West Virginia in the 12th inning, he continued mashing into Southland Conference play. Blasting another two-run shot at his father’s alma mater Friday, Schwaner capped off the binge with a pair of three-run home runs Saturday against New Orleans.

During the week, Schwaner added one double, one triple and 11 RBIs to his season totals. He also scored six runs and stole a pair of bases.

Schwaner and the Lions look to extend their seven-game winning streak Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in Mobile, Alabama, traveling to play South Alabama (9-7) for the second time this season.
