Sceroler named Southland Pitcher of the Week once again

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana right-hander Mac Sceroler was named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week, presented by UniversalCoin.com, the conference office announced Monday.

The honor marks back-to-back weeks the junior from Denham Springs, Louisiana, has earned the weekly award.

Sceroler limited Nicholls to a pair of hits Friday and extended his shutout streak to 20.1 consecutive innings as Southeastern Louisiana defeated the Colonels, 4-0, at Ray E. Didier Field in the opening game of a Southland Conference series.

The right-hander walked two and struck out nine in earning the win (7-1). It was the first shutout of Sceroler’s career. Over his last two outing, Sceroler has allowed just four hits in 17.1 innings of work.

Southeastern pitcher Corey Gaconi and third baseman Taylor Schwaner were previously named players of the week by the Southland this season.

Each school’s sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, but is not permitted to vote for his or her own player.
