RUSTON – Sophomore striker Mylene Roy-Ouellet netted a hat trick and five other Lady Techsters scored to propel Louisiana Tech to a 9-0 shutout win over crosstown foe Grambling State on Tuesday night at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex.

LA Tech (3-1-1) was able to score four goals in the first period and five in the second to tie for the third most goals ever scored in a single game.

Roy-Ouellet, a Conference USA All-Freshman selection last season, became the ninth Techster in program history to register at least three goals in one game, coming in the 34th, 53rd and 66th minute. She also registered an assist to bring her point total to seven for the match.

The second goal came just 31 seconds later on an owl goal by GSU (0-1) which was an attempted clear out of the six that went into the net.

The other goal in the first half was by junior college transfer Hannah McStay-Fenn in the 44th minute when her flicked shot inside the six-yard box beat the opposing keeper for her first career goal as well.

Also netting her first career goal was senior Kendall Ayers won converted a penalty kick in the 61st minute after Mariah Rojas was taken down inside the box. Ayers finished the night with four points as she was also credited with two assists.

Later on, Rojas scored off a chest volley from close range for what was her first goal of the season and the second of her career.

Lastly it was Emma Mele in the 74th minute who had a strong finish of the ball into the low right corner from 15 yards out off an assist from Blakeney Latson.
