Reports: Pelicans in trade talks for Jahlil Okafor, Brook Lopez

The New Orleans Pelicans were unlikely to sit quietly before the trade deadline. Now it appears they may make a big splash soon.

As first reported by USA Today, the Pelicans are “in serious trade talks” with the Philadelphia 76ers to acquire Jahlil Okafor. The Sixers, who have reportedly talked to at least eight teams regarding Okafor, are pushing for the Pelicans’ first-round pick in the deal.

Meanwhile, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports the Pelicans hope to also unload center Omer Asik, but not necessarily in a trade for Okafor:

In the search for a center to pair with Anthony Davis, Pelicans GM Dell Demps also has interest in Brook Lopez of the Brooklyn Nets:
