Defensive end Jarell Cherry, a four star recruit out of Dallas (Carter), committed to LSU on Saturday.

Cherry is among the nation’s best edge rusher prospects, but Cherry has also played inside in a few defensive packages. Very strong, he is a good strider who can move well.

The 6-3, 228-pounder has fielded offers from Alabama, Texas, Baylor, Colorado, Michigan, Ole Miss, Tulsa, Texas Tech, UCLA, Utah, Tennessee, SMU, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Oklahoma. He camped at Alabama, Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.

Highly coveted by Texas, Cherry will continue to be a well-sought after recruit. The Longhorns don’t figure to surrender

As a state of Texas prospect, Cherry compares favorably to LSU 2017 signee K’Lavon Chaisson, except Cherry is bigger.

LSU now has 13 commitments for the class of 2018.
