Prudhomme earns SWAC Player of the Week honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Southern’s Shawn Prudhomme has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in week four of the regular season.
Prudhomme averaged 30.5 points per game in the Jaguars’ most recent two contests – both wins.

The senior posted a career-high 37 points to go with six rebounds, two assists and two blocks in Southern’s 91-79 win over Paul Quinn. He added 8 3-point field goals in the 12-point win.

Prudhomme followed the career night against Paul Quinn by leading SUBR to a 83-71 road win at Florida A&M Saturday, where he scored 25 points and notched eight rebounds and two more blocked shots. He finished the week shooting 23-of-38 from the field, with 12 made treys.

Currently, Prudhomme leads the SWAC in scoring at 22.7 points per game. He is also averaging just over seven rebounds a night and is shooting 54.8 percent from the floor. Thus far this year, he has knocked down an astounding 56.1 percent of his shots from beyond the arc.
