PRs fall for McNeese on first day at La. Classics

LAFAYETTE – McNeese kicked off the two-day Louisiana Classics with some classic performances on Friday especially in the men’s javelin throw and 200-meter events.

Sophomore thrower Donavon Banks won the men’s javelin event with a mark of 222-feet, 2-inches to set a new personal record.

In addition, sprinters Tyler Smith, Jalon Charles and Blake Comeaux all set PRs in the 200-meters.

Smith finished second and was the first collegian finisher with a time of 21.53. Charles followed in third place, second collegian, at 21.60, and Comeaux was in seventh at 22.08.

Christoph Graf, running in his first 1,500-meter race as a Cowboy, clocked a 3:49.68 time for a third place finish.

On the women’s side, Mia Robinson finished fifth in the 200-meters and setting a new PR with a time of 24.93.

The meet continues on Saturday with a full day of events.
