RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech wrapped up its annual Pro Day on Tuesday as several current and former Bulldogs were on hand to watch all the action on a warm afternoon at Joe Aillet Stadium in Ruston.

Representatives from all 32 teams in the National Football League were in attendance to watch 15 Bulldogs show off their skills on the turf at Joe Aillet Stadium on Tuesday.

“This was a really special day for these seniors having their opportunity to have their day in the sun and their day with all the NFL scouts and coaches that made their way to Ruston today to evaluate some of these young men,” head coach Skip Holtz said. “I think some of them really showed out and are doing a really good job today. Some of these guys are going to have a chance to play football for a living. We are really excited to see some of these guys out here making the most of their opportunities.”

Three former Bulldogs in attendance at LA Tech’s Pro Day also recently performed at the NFL Combine as Carlos Henderson, Trent Taylor and Xavier Woods worked out for scouts from all 32 teams Tuesday in Ruston. In addition to those three, Louisiana Tech was also represented by 12 additional seniors, including: Aaron Brown, Darrell Brown, Joseph Brunson, Lloyd Grogan, Jordan Harris, Ryan Higgins, Cyril Noland-Lewis, Prince Sam, Dalton Santos, Conner Smith, Darrell Travis and Kirby Wixson.

“This day has gotten bigger and bigger every year,” Holtz said. “Part of that is you have seven guys off last year’s team that not only got into an NFL camp, but made an NFL roster. I think that speaks volumes for those guys that made it as free agents. I think it is a sign of respect for this program and the way some of these guys are developing. We are very appreciative of all the NFL coaches and scouts that came out here to evaluate these young men and give them an opportunity. This is a good day for the program and a big day in these players’ lives and we are happy to be a part of it.”

Woods ran the best 40-yard dash time of any Bulldogs working out with a final mark of 4.46 on Tuesday afternoon, while Noland-Lewis ran a 4.52 with a broad jump of 10-11 and 38-inch vertical jump. Travis led all Bulldogs with 26 reps in the bench press, while Brunson and Wixson followed closely behind with 25 and 24 reps, respectively. Taylor and Henderson only participated in running routes and catching punts on the afternoon.

The participating players will now await the 2017 NFL Draft, which is set for April 27-29 in Philadelphia.
