HAMMOND, La. – Houston area defensive specialist Alexis Pratt is the latest player to choose Southeastern Louisiana as the destination to continue both her academic and athletic endeavors, Lady Lion volleyball coach Jim Smoot announced Wednesday.

“Alexis is a really fine defensive player and serve receiver,” Smoot said. “She’ll help us shore up our back row. We’re looking for her to come in and play a major role in that right off the bat.”

Pratt is a three-time All-District and Academic All-District player at Memorial High School. As a senior she recorded 620 digs in 43 matches, also dishing out 87 assists and 29 aces.

Her senior season, Pratt broke the school record for digs in a single match (36), in a single season (542) and in a career (1,218).

“She comes from a volleyball family,” Smoot said. “Her parents were players and coaches, so she has good knowledge and has been involved with the game her whole life. That’s always a plus. We think her court awareness is going to be a major factor contributing to our success.”
