No. 2 Gold Rush to play 2 more ranked teams in Florida

NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana men’s tennis remained No. 2 in the NAIA men’s tennis coaches poll announced Tuesday.

The Gold Rush (6-3) have been No. 2 in all four polls this season. Since the previous poll the XULA men won 7-2 at No. 6 William Carey. It was the Gold Rush’s third victory of the season against a top-10 opponent.

Meanwhile, the XULA women climbed to 10th nationally. It’s the first time since May 20, 2015, that the Rush and Nuggets are in the top 10 simultaneously.

The Gold Rush will play twice this week in Florida: a 2 p.m. EDT Thursday exhibition against ASA Miami — ranked second in the National Junior College Athletic Association — and Friday against NAIA No. 19 St. Thomas.

The Gold Rush poll streaks:
• 81st consecutive appearance in the top 25 . . . streak began April 4, 2007.
• 72nd consecutive appearance in the top 20 . . . streak began April 30, 2008.
• 57th consecutive appearance in the top 15 . . . streak began Feb. 1, 2011.
• 51st consecutive appearance in the top 10 . . . streak began May 3, 2011.
• 13th consecutive appearance in the top 5 . . . streak began Jan. 26, 2016.
• 11th consecutive appearance in the top 3 . . . streak began March 1, 2016.
• 5th consecutive appearance in the top 2 . . . streak began May 25, 2016.

NOTES: St. Thomas replaced Keiser on the schedule . . . The Gold Rush’s home match with William Carey has been moved again, this time to April 13 . . . An April 13 dual at West Florida was moved to April 15 . . . Added to the schedule was an April 18 dual at the University of New Orleans
